Gustation Abroad

In Poetry on April 6, 2012 at 11:45 am

I will go to countries far
Eating dishes quite bizarre
Some will make me very ill and
Some will gustatate my thrill

Deep in the jungles of Borneo,
Roasted bananas dipped in guano paste.

Small amongst California’s towering redwoods,
Tree-bark tortillas topped with diced white grubs.

Careful on the outskirts of Chernobyl,
Radiation elk burgers marinated in vodka.

I have gone to countries far,
I’ve tasted dishes quite bizarre
And now, I think I’ve had my fill
I’m done with gustatory thrill
