Hands And Feet, and Sticks

In Poetry on April 2, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Semblances between
My hands and my feet:
Five digits on both,
Fingernails need clipping on both,
Calluses on both,
But one takes the pressure
Where the other takes a grasp,
One takes a pounding
Where the other takes precision,
One holds the frame
Where the other holds the power
To manipulate a stick into
A weapon or a tool for
Making better what progress
We don’t want to wait on
For nature’s endowments
For life is short and
Slow is evolution so
A stick in the hands of person is
A quickened path to move in.
