Dreamed Parenthesis

In Poetry on March 28, 2012 at 6:30 pm

I dreamed a parenthesis onto the page.
I penciled in its mirrored curves at
Each end of a blank line, and
I filled the void with an
Alphabet animal, an
Untamed jot of
Unhatched
Inkling,
Scratched
Out failures and
Squeezed-in spirations,
Yeast of a poem’s gestation,
Rising the raw yoke from cradled
Comfort to claustrophobic constraint,
Cracking the shell of parenthesis, grown.
